0 NeoCon World Trade Fair, the giant of the Interior Design and Facilities Management industries recently held in Chicago, was abuzz with green and sustainable merchandising and design. "Last year, 20% of the exhibitors had green product; this year the 100% of the top vendors were commited to the green movement and had developed new product" said Andy Dearwater, of Dearwater Design.

The newest truest measure of GREEN is being measured by Wal-Mart for a few lines of products, according to a recent article in Business Week The CDP, Carbon Disclosure Project, is pushing for ways to measure the energy and emissions load that a product's manufacturing and transportation places on the environment. 0 LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting is all the rage in lighting design and interiors, showing up in reading lamps at The Sharper Image, and in high end design. Having used it as specialty lighting in our Casa Concept, we have the inside on why to use LED and where, given it's steep price. 0 Early in 2007 Casa Concept has paired up with Abode Living Development to create a novel townhouse development adjacent to the Historic Heights district, on the linear park and bikepath. What's novel about this 14 townhouse complex? Energy Star certified homes designed for sustainability and energy efficiency, with terraces and balconies that serve as entertaining expansion rooms situated right off the public areas and opening on to the park. Novel thinking about modern living starts at the commercial kitchen which is a standard for all houses in the complex. Oxford Park will be changing the way we look at housing in Houston.
